CAP Contest Recap
Aloha community!
This year's state of hawaii CAP contest hosted by the East & West Kauai Conservation Districts (SWCD) was a great success! We first want to thank Lydgate Farms for this year's event. The Conservation Awareness Contest allowed students from across Hawaii to put their soil science, environmental science, and conservation knowledge to use. The students were given three different sites to determine appropriate land use and conservation practices by examining the soil and using other environmental factors including slope, ground water depth and climate.

After the Contest, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and SWCD staff along with West Kauai Director Umi Martin
shared and answered questions about education and
career opportunities.We appreciate the volunteers
